EDUCATION

PhD, English (September 2015)
St. John’s University (Jamaica, NY).
Dissertation: Fear of Falling: 9/11 and the Politics of Absence, successfully defended on May 7, 2015.

My dissertation, “Fear of Falling: The Aesthetic of Absence,” focuses on a wide range of popular and artistic reactions to 9/11, ranging from fiction, photography, journalism, comics, memorial construction, and documentary film. This research is focused upon absence as a post-9/11 aesthetic, but also upon political absences, like the carceral disappearance of alleged enemies of the state.
